Kim Campbell became Canada's first and so far only female prime minister in 1993, after serving as justice minister and defence minister. She was the first woman to hold either of those posts as well.

Took a degree in political science in 1969 and returned for a law degree in 1983, having been the university's first female student council president.
Facts
- She was the first woman elected president of the UBC student council, in the 1960s.
- She studied Soviet government at the London School of Economics before returning to law.
- She has since taught political leadership at Harvard and founded a new university college in Alberta.
